Construction Projects Affecting School Traffic in South Lake Charles
Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish School Board announced on August 15, 2022, that they had recently been advised of planned construction projects that may impair traffic flow in South Lake Charles. In the coming weeks and months, two construction projects will be running concurrently: a junction closure on West Prien Lake Road and a sidewalk and drainage project on Weaver Road.
CPSB indicated that on August 22 they are changing the flow of traffic on and off the Barbe High School campus to ensure the safety of students, educators, and staff.

The Calcasieu Parish School Board anticipates traffic delays at S.J. Welsh Middle, Prien Lake Elementary, and Nelson Elementary, particularly during arrival and dismissal times. The school board stated that it will give updates as needed.
