Unrestrained Louisiana Woman Subbumbs to Injuries Sustained in July 23 Crash on US 165
Louisiana – Louisiana State Police reported on July 25, 2022, that on Saturday, July 23, 2022, just after 9:00 p.m., LSP Troop F responded to a two-vehicle crash on US Highway 165 south of LA Highway 2. Mary C. Robertson, 76, of Sterlington, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Robertson was driving a 2011 Ford Explorer south on US Highway 165. Robertson attempted to make a left turn onto Lenox Bridge Road for unknown reasons. A northbound vehicle struck the Ford as it entered the northbound lanes of US Highway 165.
Robertson, who was not restrained, was seriously injured in the crash and was taken to a nearby hospital. The other vehicle’s driver, who was properly restrained, suffered minor injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital. Although there is no evidence of impairment, a toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash is still being investigated.
Troop F was notified on July 25, 2022, that Robertson had died as a result of her injuries.
Louisiana State Troopers want to remind drivers that buckling up is the most effective way to protect themselves in the event of a car accident. Failure to buckle up for a few seconds can have disastrous consequences. Every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, is required by Louisiana law to be properly restrained at all times.
So far in 2022, Troop F has investigated 17 fatal crashes, resulting in 21 fatalities.
