Louisiana Man Arrested After Allegedly Striking Victim in the Head and Stealing their Wallet During an Argument
Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on July 18, 2022, that on July 17 at approximately 9:45 a.m., CPSO deputies were dispatched to a local hospital after receiving a complaint about a battery.
CPSO Violent Crimes detectives learned during the initial investigation that the victim had been arguing with an acquaintance when Seth A. Barrick, 24, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, struck the victim in the head with an unidentified object. It was also discovered that Barrick allegedly stole the victim’s wallet. Deputies found Barrick later that day. He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Facility on charges of aggravated second-degree battery and armed robbery. His bond was set at $110,000 by Judge Tony Fazzio.
The victim was airlifted to an out-of-town hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Detective Lauren Manuel of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is the case’s lead investigator.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
