Fish Seized by Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Donated to Help Combat Hunger
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced on July 11, 2022, that Enforcement Division agents worked with the Venice Marina and the non-profit Hunters for the Hungry to donate seized fish to the New Orleans Mission in conjunction with the Second Harvest Food Bank.
LDWF agents from the New Orleans area brought seized fish from fishing violations to the Venice Marina. The seized fish was processed at the marina and held for Hunters for the Hungry. Over 800 pounds of fish filets were recently donated to the New Orleans Mission, including over 400 pounds from LDWF seizures. The remaining fish were donated by fishermen.
Fish ranging from red drum to swordfish and tuna were donated to the cause. Hunters for the Hungry’s mission is to encourage hunters and fishermen to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors by sharing their bounty of wild game and fish to combat hunger.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries would like to remind everyone that when purchasing a license, you can donate to Hunters for the Hungry. Your contributions will help cover the costs of processing donated fish and game.
