Unrestrained Louisiana Teen Killed in July 2 UTV Crash Near LA 155
Louisiana – Louisiana State Police reported on July 3, 2022, that on July 2, just before 9:00 p.m., Troopers assigned to LSP Troop G began investigating a single-vehicle fatality crash involving a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) on Clear Springs Church Road north of LA Highway 155. Lila Rose Sobolak, 13, was killed in the accident. The initial investigation revealed that a Sobolak was driving a 2008 Can-Am UTV west on Clear Springs Church Road when she lost control, exited the road, struck a fence, then a tree before overturning.
Sobolak and an adult passenger were both unrestrained and ejected during the collision. The passenger received non-life threatening injuries. Sobolak was taken to Christus Coushatta Health Care Center and pronounced dead.
Troopers would like to emphasize the importance of wearing approved helmets and seat belts when operating any off-road vehicle. Off-road vehicles (three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and other all-terrain vehicles) are also dangerous and illegal to operate on any public roadway in this state.
Troop G has investigated 19 fatal crashes so far in 2022, resulting in 20 deaths.
