Louisiana Woman Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in May 1 Crash on LA 741

Louisiana – Louisiana State Police reported on May 13, 2022, that on May 1, 2022, shortly after 6:00 p.m., LSP Troop I was notified of a two-vehicle crash on US Highway 190 at Louisiana Highway 741 in St. Landry Parish. Elaine Artigue, 72, of Arnaudville, died as a result of the accident. Artigue was driving south on LA 741 in a 2017 Ford Taurus, according to the initial investigation by State Police. A 2016 Jeep Wrangler was driving west on US 190 at the same time. Artigue failed to yield as she approached the intersection, and her Taurus was hit by the Jeep.

Artigue, who had been properly restrained, was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. The other driver was restrained properly, and no injuries were reported. Neither driver was suspected of being impaired.

The St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office notified Troopers on Friday, May 13, 2022, that Artigue had died as a result of the crash.

Louisiana State Troopers remind motorists that making good decisions while driving, such as ensuring all occupants are properly restrained, not driving while impaired, and not being distracted behind the wheel, can often mean the difference between life and death.

LSP reported that Troop I has investigated 11 fatal crashes resulting in 13 deaths in 2022.
