Federal Court in Louisiana Sentences California Man to Over 17 Years for Drug Trafficking

Louisiana – U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that Allen Edgerson, age 44, of Moreno Valley, California, was sentenced to over 17 years on May 11, 2022, for methamphetamine trafficking.

On July 7, 2021, Edgerson pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(A), and 846. Edgerson, according to court documents, sold methamphetamine in large quantities, quoting customers prices for up to 20 pounds at a time. Edgerson and his co-defendant, Rachel Cesario, were apprehended by authorities while sending packages containing multiple pounds of methamphetamine to co-defendant Sheon Copprue in New Orleans.

Edgerson was sentenced to 210 months (17 years, 6 months) in prison, five years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment by the Honorable Sarah S. Vance. Sheon Copprue, Rachel Cesario, and Tonya Calvin, Edgerson’s co-defendants, have already pled guilty in this case and are awaiting sentencing.

The work of the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Louisiana State Police was lauded by U.S. Attorney Evans. The prosecution is led by Assistant United States Attorney Nicholas D. Moses.
