Calcasieu Parish Deputies to Participate in Special Olympics “Tip a Cop” Fundraiser
Published March 2, 2022
Lake Charles, LA – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office announced that deputies will take part in the Special Olympics Louisiana (LASO) fundraiser “Tip-A-Cop” on Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Texas Roadhouse, located at 3431 Nelson Road in Lake Charles. Deputies will volunteer their time as “celebrity waiters,” assisting in serving and acting as hosts alongside the regular wait staff. Deputies will donate all tips received to Special Olympics Louisiana.
The Special Olympics movement is one of the most well-known and respected charities, with the goal of empowering people with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive, and respected members of society through sports training and competitions. Every $250 raised allows one athlete to train and compete for an entire year, according to LASO.
“We are excited to have our deputies participate in this event to raise funds for Special Olympics Louisiana. It is a great way for our agency and our community to come together and raise awareness for a worthy cause,” stated Sheriff Tony Mancuso. “The funds raised at this event will benefit those in Louisiana and help provide year-round programs for over 12,000 athletes.”
