The State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM) has arrested four people for their alleged involvement in a vehicle fire and subsequent insurance claim for the fire damage.
Sakia Harris, 18, was booked into the Vernon Parish Jail on Oct. 27 on one count each of Simple Arson, Criminal Conspiracy, Obstruction of Justice, and Hit and Run.
Emanuel Mosley, 21, was booked into the Vernon Parish Jail, also on Oct. 27, on one count each of Simple Arson, Obstruction of Justice, and Illegal Use of a Weapon.
Catherine Hudge, 36, and Antonio Hudge, 40, were booked into the Vernon Parish Jail on October 29, 2021, on one count of Insurance Fraud.
The Savage Forks Fire Department responded to a car fire on the 700 block of Section Line Road in Leesville in the early morning hours of May 25, 2021. A luxury vehicle was on fire on the side of the road when firefighters arrived. The vehicle also appeared to be riddled with bullet holes.
After conducting an investigation and gathering evidence, Louisiana State Fire Marshal deputies believed the fire was caused on purpose. During the investigation, d Deputies discovered Harris borrowed the vehicle from her mother, Hudge, to travel out of the area. Harris wrecked the car, and in order to hide the damage, she enlisted the help of her boyfriend, Mosely, to set the car on fire. Despite knowing the actual details of the fire’s cause, the Hudges submitted an insurance claim for the fire damage, according to evidence gathered by deputies.
The four were subsequently served with warrants and taken into custody with the help of the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office.
During the course of the investigation, deputies discovered guns and drugs in a home where they were serving a search warrant linked to this case and made an unrelated arrest.
