62-Year-Old Louisiana Man Arrested and Charged with Multiple Additional Alleged Sex Crimes Involving Juveniles

Lafourche Parish, Louisiana – A 62-year-old Louisiana man has been arrested and charged with multiple additional alleged sex crimes involving juveniles.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported that a Cut Off man who was previously arrested for sex offenses in May 2022 has been booked on fresh counts after new victims came forward. Ralph Cheramie Jr., 62, of Cutt Off, Louisiana is now facing charges for three separate female victims who were reportedly victimized between 12 and 20 years ago.

Detectives discovered Cheramie allegedly had inappropriate sexual contact with a juvenile girl roughly 20 years ago after conducting an investigation. The first event occurred when the girl was a young adolescent. Following the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant and arrested Cheramie on May 31, 2022. He was charged with two counts of oral sexual battery, sexual battery, and indecent behavior with a juvenile at the time.

Additional victims came forward following his arrest. Police were reportedly able to uncover probable cause for Cheramie to face additional charges for inappropriate sexual contact with two more victims when the females were juveniles, one of whom was under the age of 13 at the time of the event. Cheramie was then arrested on further accusations, including three counts of sexual battery (forcible fondling), three counts of indecent behavior with juveniles, and molestation of a juvenile under the age of 13.

Cheramie’s case is still being investigated. Any other victims are asked to call Lieutenant Rodney Morrison of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at (985) 532-4359.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
