51-Year-Old Louisiana Man Sentenced to 14 Years After Authorities Find Cocaine, Methamphetamine, a Firearm, and Other Evidence in a Vehicle
Shreveport, Louisiana – A 51-year-old man from Louisiana has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after authorities discovered cocaine, methamphetamine, a firearm, and other evidence in his vehicle.
On May 3, 2023, United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown announced that Eric Lamar Wimbley, 51, of Shreveport, Louisiana was sentenced to 168 months (14 years) in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release by United States District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote for illegally possessing drugs and firearms.
Eric Lamar Wimbley, 51, was sentenced to 168 months in prison (14 years) followed by three years of supervised release. Officers from the Louisiana Division of Probation and Parole and the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office performed a parole search of Wimbley’s automobile on April 13, 2022. Officers discovered roughly 1.320 grams of cocaine, 107.7 grams of cocaine base, and 125.67 grams of methamphetamine-based tablets when searching the vehicle. A bag containing digital scales, razor blades with cocaine traces, packaging supplies, and a loaded 9mm handgun was also found inside the vehicle. Police also discovered Wimbley in possession of the vehicle’s key fob. He was arrested and charged with cocaine possession with intent to distribute and firearm possession. Wimbley pled guilty to cocaine possession with intent to distribute in December 2022.
The US Drug Enforcement Administration, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Assistant US Attorney Mike Shannon investigated the case.
