49-Year-Old Louisiana Man Arrested in Connection with Valentine’s Day Travel Trailer Thefts and Drug Crimes

Ascension Parish, Louisiana – A 49-year-old Louisiana man has been arrested in connection with two Valentine’s Day travel trailer thefts and drug crimes.

Detectives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Property Crime Unit arrested Michael Wayne Jones, 49, of Prairieville, Louisiana, in connection with two travel trailer thefts, according to Sheriff Bobby Webre.

Jones is accused of two counts of theft over $25,000, methamphetamine possession, and prohibited acts; drug paraphernalia.

Deputies went to an overturned travel trailer in the ditch on Henderson Bayou Road on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. When authorities arrived, they discovered that the trailer had been taken from a neighboring property previous to the crash. The suspect’s vehicle was recognized and located in a store parking lot along Airline Highway in Prairieville, Louisiana, after additional inquiry. The truck was discovered linked to a second stolen travel trailer, according to detectives.

Police spoke with Jones, who allegedly acknowledged taking the trailers.   At the time of contact, he was also found to be in possession of illegal narcotics. He was taken into custody and placed in the Ascension Parish Jail.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
