39-Year-Old Louisiana Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash On LA 126 After Vehicle Flipped

A 39-year-old Louisiana woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on LA 126 after her vehicle flipped.

Catahoula Parish, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police (LSP) Troop E responded to a one-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 126 near Louisiana Highway 124 on February 17, 2023. Stephanie Book, 39, of Olla, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.

The initial inquiry found that Book was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima east on Louisiana Highway 126. Book reportedly failed to stop at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 126 and Louisiana Highway 124 for unknown reasons. As a result, the Nissan went off the road, vaulted, and flipped.

Book, who was not restrained, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Toxicology samples were collected and submitted for testing.

While the cause of this crash is still being investigated, distracted and inattentive driving remains a leading cause of accidents in our state. Louisiana State Police advises all motorists to drive cautiously. A failure in judgment can have fatal repercussions.

Troop E has investigated three fatal crashes so far in 2023, resulting in three deaths.
