39-Year-Old Louisiana Man Sentenced to Prison on Drug Trafficking Charges
Louisiana – A 39-year-old Louisiana man has been sentenced to 30 months in prison and 3 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.
On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that Lonnie Williams, age 39, a resident of Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, was sentenced on January 17, 2023, to 30 months imprisonment, 3 years of supervised release, and a mandatory $200 special assessment fee by U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute cocaine base (“crack”).
According to court documents, DEA agents began investigating Williams as a narcotics distributor in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, in June 2020. Agents observed Williams engaging in a drug deal with a co-conspirator on August 24, 2020. Following the transaction, officers conducted a traffic stop and discovered Williams in possession of distributable amounts of crack cocaine.
The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated this case. J. Benjamin Myers, Assistant United States Attorney, handled the prosecution.
