38-Year-Old Louisiana Man Arrested Suspected of Possession of Drugs, Stolen Firearms, and Other Crimes
Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana - A man has been arrested in Louisiana suspected of multiple drug and weapon charges after a search of his vehicle revealed cocaine, meth, marijuana, and a stolen firearm.
The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Office reported on January 17, 2023, that on Saturday, January 14, 2023, Deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding on LA 1126 near Britt road. When the vehicle came to a stop, deputies noticed the passenger door was open and ordered the passenger to close the door and remain inside the vehicle.
A black Reebok bag was discovered stuffed beneath the vehicle near the front passenger door by deputies. Gerard Christopher Conner, the driver, stated that he had no knowledge of the bag and that he did not throw anything from the vehicle. When deputies searched the Reebok bag, they discovered an empty cigarette pack with a clear baggie containing a white powdered substance that tested positive for cocaine, a black plastic box containing a blue pill container containing Alprazolam, a clear plastic container containing a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine, and one black digital scale. Deputies also discovered a small baggie under the vehicle containing a green leafy substance that was later identified as marijuana. A k-9 alert to the vehicle prompted the search. Deputies discovered a revolver in the trunk of the reported stolen vehicle.
Gerard Christopher Conner, 38, of West Jefferson Street in Jennings, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm. 2 counts of Marijuana Possession with Intent to Distribute Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of a Minor, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of a Minor.
The vehicle and two juvenile passengers were released to an adult parent or guardian.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
