38-Year-Old Louisiana Man Arrested During SVU Investigation For Alleged Sexual Abuse of Minors
Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana – A 38-year-old man from Louisiana was arrested during a Special Victims Unit (SVU) investigation for allegedly sexually abusing minors.
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Houma, Louisiana man on May 1, 2023, in connection with an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Sheriff’s Office’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) Detectives.
Suspect Kennet Calderon Matus, 38, of Houma, Louisiana, was arrested in connection with the investigation and charged with Third Degree Rape and Indecent Behavior with a Child.
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office SVU Detectives were reportedly made aware of a complaint of sexual abuse of a minor in April 2023, which was being investigated by the TPSO Patrol Division. During an investigation review, Detectives discovered that the abuse occurred on a specific date and identified the suspect as Kennet Calderon Matus. Further inquiry revealed that the incident(s) occurred at a property within the parish of Terrebonne, where the victim and her mother, as well as a second victim, were living.
SVU Detectives spoke with the victims and their mother during the inquiry, who confirmed the abuse. Matus was acquainted with the victim’s mother, with whom he was involved in a relationship, according to the inquiry.
SVU investigators secured an arrest warrant for Kennet Calderon Matus over the course of the investigation, and he was apprehended a short time later. Matus is currently being held at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on No Bond by local judges.
Sheriff Tim Soignet confirmed this is an ongoing investigation, and additional charges are not known at this time. Sheriff Soignet said, “As always, we ask for patience and privacy for the victims and family. Our Detectives are working diligently to bring a resolution to this unfortunate investigation.”
