34-year-old Louisiana Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Conspiracy Involving Methamphetamine and Faces Up to 25 Years if Convicted

Louisiana – A 34-year-old Louisiana man pleaded guilty on December 13, 2022, to conspiracy to distribute and possess methamphetamine and using a communication facility to facilitate felonies under the Controlled Substances Act.

On Friday, December 16, 2022, U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that Theodore Holmes, age 34, a resident of Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, pled guilty on December 13, 2022, before U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(C), and 846, and use of a communication facility in causing or facilitating the commission of felonies under the Controlled Substances Act in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 843(b) and Title 18, United States Code, Section 2.

An investigation indicated that between June 8, 2020, and June 5, 2021, Holmes and a number of other co-conspirators participated in a drug distribution conspiracy, according to court filings. As part of the conspiracy, Holmes distributed methamphetamine on a regular basis.

Holmes faces up to twenty years in prison, a fine of up to $1,000,000, at least three years of supervised release following any period of imprisonment, and a mandatory $100 special assessment fee for the drug conspiracy offense. Holmes faces up to 4 years in prison, a maximum $250,000 fine, up to 1 year of supervised release, and a $100 obligatory special assessment charge for the use of a communication facility in causing or enabling the commission of a felony under the Controlled Substances Act.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office investigated this case. Assistant United States Attorney J. Benjamin Myers is responsible for the prosecution.
