34-Year-Old Louisiana Man Pleads Guilty to Drug Charges Involving Distribution of Heroin, Faces Up to 20 Years in Prison and a $1 Million Fine
New Orleans, Louisiana – A 34-year-old Louisiana man has pleaded guilty to drug charges involving the distribution of heroin and now faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans has announced that Marvin Sims, age 34, of New Orleans, Louisiana, pleaded on March 30, 2023, before the Honorable Eldon E. Fallon to charges of violating the Federal Controlled Substances Act.
Sims, according to court documents, conspired to possess with the intent to distribute and distribute heroin.
The sentencing date is set for July 6, 2023. Sims faces up to 20 years in prison, a $1,000,000 fine, at least three years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment, and a $100 special assessment fee.
Special Agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives investigated this case. Assistant United States Attorney David Haller of the Violent Crimes Unit is in charge of the prosecution.
