34-Year-Old Louisiana Felon Arrested by Narcotics Division For Alleged Distribution of Fetanayl, Marijuana, and Firearms Charges

St John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana – A 34-year-old Louisiana felon was arrested by the Narcotics Division on charges of alleged distribution of fentanyl, marijuana, and firearms crimes.

The St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed on May 16, 2023, that Trevin Johnson, 34, of LaPlace, Louisiana, was apprehended on May 10 in connection with illicit drug and firearms activity.

Johnson, a four-time convicted offender, was investigated by the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division in late February 2023 for his alleged involvement in the distribution of illegal narcotics, notably fentanyl, and marijuana, in St. John the Baptist Parish.

On May 10, 2023, investigators reportedly discovered and recovered marijuana, oxycodone, and methamphetamine during Johnson’s arrest and subsequent search warrants at two residences. Five firearms, including two handguns, two AK-type pistols, one AR-type pistol, drug paraphernalia, and more than $3,000 in cash, were also recovered. Detectives knew from prior experience and training that the evidence obtained was consistent with the distribution of illegal narcotics.
St. John Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Louisiana State Police SWAT executed the search warrants at an address in LaPlace, Louisiana. Johnson was reportedly caught in possession of one of the AK-type pistols during the execution of the search warrant.

The AK-style weapon was fully loaded, with one round in the chamber, according to officials.

Johnson was booked with possession with intent to distribute marijuana; possession of a firearm/carrying concealed weapon by a convicted felon; illegal carrying of a weapon with CDS – 14:95E; transactions involving proceeds from CDS activity; prohibited acts, drug paraphernalia; possession of a firearm/carrying concealed weapon by a convicted felon; and possession of oxycodone. He also was wanted on a contempt of court warrants. He was released on May 12, 2023.

Authorities indicated that Johnson has a long arrest history including, but not limited to Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery with Dangerous Weapons, First Degree Robbery, Second Degree Murder, Illegal Carrying of Weapons, Illegal Use of Weapons/Dangerous Instrumentalities, Domestic Abuse Battery, Distribution of a Schedule I CDS – Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of a Schedule II (Meth), Possession of Marijuana, Prohibited acts / Drugs Paraphernalia, Possession with intent to Distribute MDMA, Obstruction of Justice, Flight from an Officer, Resisting an Officer, Child Desertion, Possession of Firearm/ Carry Concealed Weapons by Convicted Felon, Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearm, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

During the execution of the warrant, Kendall Cornish and Derrick Gray were also arrested on related narcotics and gun offenses.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
