Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana – A 33-year-old woman from Louisiana has been arrested for allegedly burglarizing a business in Terrebonne Parish, possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and other crimes.

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Montegut, Louisiana woman on May 1, 2023, in connection with an investigation of a  burglary that occurred over the weekend at a Terrebonne Parish business. Jade Nicole Lefort, 33, of Montegut, Louisiana, was arrested on several counts related to the investigation.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) Patrol Division responded to a report of suspicious behavior at a business in the 100 block of Bourg Larose Highway on April 29, 2023. Patrol Deputies responded and talked with witnesses, who discovered evidence that the shop had been burglarized, causing damage to the building. Deputies checked the evidence at the site and discovered a vehicle at the back of the business. While searching the business and surrounding area, Deputies reportedly discovered a female hiding in a wooded area directly behind the business.

Authorities indicated that the female was taken into custody and identified as Jade Lefort.

TPSO Deputies resumed their investigation and were reportedly able to connect Lefort to the investigation at the business. A search of the vehicle at the site reportedly turned up a weapon with an obliterated serial number, according to Deputies. Lefort was interviewed, and she also reportedly admitted to her involvement and ownership of the firearm.

Lefort was arrested for Simple Burglary, Possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and other unrelated charges. Lefort was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex and is being held on a total bond of $51,700 by local judges.

Sheriff Tim Soignet indicated that he is pleased with the TPSO Patrol’s exceptional effort in apprehending Lefort. Sheriff Tim Soignet said, “I’m very proud of the job completed by our Patrol Division, as well as the observant actions of the witnesses in this case. This is another example of what can be accomplished when Law Enforcement and the public work together.”

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
