31-Year-Old Louisiana Man Arrested Suspected of Firing Shots During a Large Disturbance in Elton

Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – A 31-year-old Louisiana man has been arrested suspected of firing shots during a large disturbance in Elton.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office stated on March 9, 2023, that on March 8, 2023, Deputies were notified of a significant disturbance involving gunfire on St. Joseph Street in Elton, Louisiana.

When on their way to the scene, Elton Police advised that the situation was under control. The Elton Police Department and the Coushatta Tribal Police Department were on the scene. When deputies arrived, they were told that a group of adults and juveniles were fighting and that one person had fired shots from a gun.

Elton Police supplied information about the incident and requested that Jeff Davis Sheriff’s investigators conduct an investigation. The person who fired the weapon was identified by detectives.

Lande Maurice Anthony, 31, of Elton, Louisiana was arrested and booked into the parish jail and charged with Aggravated assault with a firearm and illegal carrying of weapons.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
