Caddo Parish, Louisiana – A 31-year-old Louisiana man has been arrested after agents found $14,000 worth of marijuana, THC candies, and a stolen firearm.
According to Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator, narcotics agents apprehended a Shreveport, Louisiana man suspected of many drug and gun-related offenses.
As part of an illicit drug investigation, agents from the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant in the 1900 block of Nicholson Street in December 2022. A total of 1,393 grams of marijuana, 16 packs of watermelon THC candies, a semi-automatic firearm, and a stolen AR-15 were seized by agents. Preprinted marijuana packaging that looked like individually wrapped candy but was labeled “STONEY PATCH” was also collected. The narcotics were estimated to be worth approximately $14,000.
Agents obtained an arrest warrant for DaMarquez Mitchell, 31, for possession of schedule I with intent to distribute, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, illegal carrying of weapons while possessing a controlled dangerous substance, and two counts of convicted felon in possession of a firearm after further investigation.
On February 23, members of the US Marshals Task Force were led to the 3700 block of Powell Street, where Mitchell eventually surrendered and was apprehended. For the outstanding warrants, he was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.
Authorities have indicated that anyone who comes across candy wrappers labeled “STONER PATCH” or “STONEY PATCH” should not take them and should contact the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office at (318) 675-2170.
