30-Year-Old Louisiana Woman Arrested Suspected of Setting Multiple Homes on Fire, Including One with Her Boyfriend Inside
Natchitoches, Louisiana – A 30-year-old Louisiana woman has been arrested and suspected of setting multiple homes on fire, including one with her boyfriend inside.
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office (LASFM) reported on March 7, 2023, that they had arrested a Natchitoches, Louisiana woman suspected of several crimes related to at least three structure fires, one with someone asleep inside, that occurred within hours of one another.
Angenique Paige, 30, of Natchitoches, Louisiana, was arrested on Friday, March 3, and placed into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on one count each of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Resisting an Officer, as well as two counts of Simple Arson.
Natchitoches Fire District #6 responded to a complaint of a mobile home fire in the 100 block of Ann Street early Friday morning, March 3. When crews arrived, they discovered the reported fire but also discovered an adjacent shed burning. The LASFM was then dispatched to conduct an investigation.
The mobile home next door began to show smoke and flames shortly after a LASFM deputy arrived to begin the investigation, and a woman was spotted coming out of the structure. The woman, later identified as Paige, fled from the deputy, but he was able to apprehend her after a brief chase a few streets away.
The owner of the first burnt mobile home, Paige’s boyfriend, was asleep inside the second mobile home at the time of the incident, according to deputies. Thankfully, the owner of the second mobile home, a relative, alerted the man to the fire, and both of them escaped safely.
The LASFM expressed gratitude to Natchitoches Fire District #6 and the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this matter.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
