3 Louisiana Men Arrested for Alleged Burglary and Theft in Moss Bluff
Lake Charles, Louisiana – On June 23, 2022, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that on June 17, 2022, CPSO detectives received a report about unknown suspects burglarizing two different businesses on Highway 171 in Moss Bluff at approximately 2:00 a.m. Detectives learned from the victims that the suspects removed several catalytic converters from vehicles parked at the business. The suspects also stole rims and tires, two air compressors, and a variety of tools.
During a subsequent investigation, detectives were able to identify one of the possible suspects as Timothy W. Cormier, 53, or Ragley, Louisiana. When detectives arrived at Cormier’s house, they discovered one of the stolen air compressors in the bed of his truck. Cormier granted detectives permission to search his truck, where they discovered a chainsaw and nail gun stolen during the burglaries earlier that morning.
Further investigation revealed two additional suspects, Jeremy J. Broussard, 41, of Moss Bluff, Louisiana, and Jason D. Whittington, 42, of Ragley, Louisiana. A search warrant was executed at Broussard’s home, and detectives discovered several items that had been reported stolen earlier that morning.
Cormier, Broussard, and Whittington were all arrested between June 17 and June 21. When detectives spoke with them, they admitted to being the perpetrators of the burglaries.
They were arrested and taken to the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Cormier is charged with simple burglary; theft $5,000 to $25,000; and possession of stolen property. Judge Wyatt set his bond at $35,000. Broussard is charged with simple burglary; theft from $5,000 to $25,000; and 3 counts of criminal damage to property. Judge Robert Wyatt set his bond at $40,000. Whittington is charged with 2 counts of simple burglary; 3 counts of simple criminal damage to property; and theft from $5,000 to $25,000. Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $127,500.
The investigation is still ongoing, and additional arrests and charges are possible.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective David Doucett is the lead investigator on this case.
