29-Year-Old Louisiana Man Arrested After Reportedly Confessing to Stealing Multiple Catalytic Converters From a Business in Sulphur
Sulphur, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been arrested and charged with theft and property damage after he reportedly confessed to stealing eight catalytic converters from automobiles at a business in Sulphur.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on January 6, 2023, that on January 2, CPSO Vehicle Crimes Investigative Unit detectives responded to a business on Coach Williams Drive in Sulphur, Louisiana, in connection to the theft of eight catalytic converters from automobiles parked on the site.
Detectives obtained video surveillance from the business during the investigation and were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle. Detectives later identified a possible suspect as Jeffrey A. Nunez, 29, of Sulphur. On January 4, VCIU detectives spoke with Nunez at his home, and he confirmed stealing the catalytic converters from the automobiles at the business. Detectives were able to find additional catalytic converters that matched those stolen from Nunez’s home.
Nunez was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center, where he was charged with theft from $1,000 to $5,000 and simple criminal property damage from $1,000 to $50,000. His bond was set at $22,000 by Judge Tony Fazzio.
The inquiry is ongoing, and additional charges are possible.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
