28-Year-Old Louisiana Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stealing a Family Member’s Vehicle, Shooting at People, and Other Crimes

Lake Charles, LA – A 28-year-old Louisiana woman allegedly shot at family members and other victims and fled in a stolen truck before stealing another vehicle and being arrested on December 22. The woman was charged with armed robbery and other offenses. One victim sustained minor injuries.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed on December 23, 2022, that on December 22, at around 4:30 p.m., deputies were summoned to a business on Christman Road in Lake Charles, Louisiana in response to a shooting and truck theft.

During the initial investigation, investigators met with the victims, who indicated they had arrived at work to shut off the water valves and prepare for the cold weather, while a family member, Allison N. Miller, 28, of Iowa, Louisiana, waited in the truck. They spotted Miller moving in reverse at a high rate of speed and backing toward the ditch where they were standing when they were outside. Miller displayed a handgun and reportedly shot at the victims, grazing one of them in the forehead as one of them attempted to open the driver’s door. Miller then put the truck in drive and fled at a high rate of speed, prompting one of the victims to leap out of the way to avoid being struck by the vehicle.

The truck’s owner informed deputies that he had a weapon in the truck’s center console. Miller’s family members told deputies that she had been acting paranoid and odd all day, possibly as a result of drug usage, during the investigation’s continuation.

During the investigation at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Iowa Police Department told CPSO deputies that Miller was near Highway 90 and Dick Hebert Road. Further investigation found that Miller had fled Christman Road, traveled to Iowa, and rear-ended another vehicle on Thompson Road before fleeing the scene. Miller then entered Jefferson Davis Parish, where she collided with a passing car and rolled the truck on Highway 90. Miller fired the weapon another time, striking a bystander, and subsequently stole a second truck at gunpoint before being apprehended by the Iowa Police Department.

Miller was arrested, booked at the Calcasieu Correctional Center, and charged with armed robbery, armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery, theft of a firearm, illegal carrying of a weapon during a violent crime, and theft of a motor vehicle following an additional investigation. Her bond is not yet finalized.

This is a multi-agency investigation including the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Police Department, the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Louisiana State Police Troop D. Each agency will investigate the crimes in their areas.

On Christman Road, the victim who was grazed by a gunshot sustained minor injuries.

Lauren Manuel of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is the principal investigator on this case.
