22-Year-Old Louisiana Man Indicted for Assaulting Federal Agent in Slidell, Louisiana
New Orleans, Louisiana – Deandre Cross, 22, was indicted for assaulting a federal agent in Slidell, Louisiana on June 8, 2022, and faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced on December 9, 2022 that 22-year-old Deandre Cross of Slidell, Louisiana was indicted on August 18, 2022, in a previously sealed indictment for assaulting a federal officer in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 111(a)(1) and 111(b). The charge was unsealed on 7 December 2022.
According to the indictment, Cross assaulted a Special Agent of the Department of Homeland Security while she was performing her official duties on or around June 8, 2022. During the attack, Cross utilized a white Buick LaCrosse as a dangerous weapon and injured the federal agent.
Cross faces up to twenty years in prison, up to a $250,000.00 fine, up to three years of supervised release, and a $100.00 special assessment fee if convicted.
United States Attorney Evans reiterated that the indictment is only an accusation and that the defendant’s guilt must be established beyond a reasonable doubt.
U.S. Attorney Evans lauded the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, and United States Marshals Service for their investigative efforts in this case. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys G. Dall Kammer and David Berman.
