Lake Charles, LA – On January 6, 2022, after a long-term narcotics investigation revealed possible drug activity at the two locations, detectives with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) executed two search warrants, one at a storage unit on Sharon Lane in Lake Charles and the other at the home of Caleb D. Barfield, 43, and Kimberly R. Breaux, 30, on Mignonette Street in Lake Charles.
During the search warrant execution, detectives discovered over 15 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl powder mixture, over 27 pounds of home pressed suspected methamphetamine tablets, over 600 grams of pressed purported oxycodone tablets, over 170 grams of fentanyl gel, 50 ounces of promethazine syrup, two semi-automatic handguns, a commercial-grade tablet pressing machine, over $20,000 in US currency, and a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The illegal narcotics collected are expected to be worth around $1 million on the street.
Barfield and Breaux were arrested at the residence and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Barfield is charged with 6 counts of possession of CDS II with intent to distribute or manufacture; 2 counts of possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS; 2 counts of illegal carrying of a weapon by a convicted felon; money laundering; illegal use of CDS in presence of a juvenile; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Breaux is charged with 2 counts of possession of CDS II; illegal use of a CDS in the presence of a juvenile; possession of a firearm in presence of a CDS; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Judge Tony Fazzio set Barfield’s bond at $803,000 and Breaux’s bond at $59,000. Breaux was released on bond the following day.
The investigation is continuing and more arrests are likely.
