2 men have been arrested after an impaired driver crashed into a fully marked Louisiana State Police unit.
Louisiana – In a properly marked Louisiana State Police unit, a Trooper with Louisiana State Police Troop B was going west on I-10 near Causeway Boulevard around 3:30 a.m. on November 4, 2021. Jaylyn Gordon, 26, was driving a 2009 Acura TSX in the same vicinity at the same time. Gordon drove past the fully marked Louisiana State Police unit at a high rate of speed and changed lanes in front of the Trooper, causing Gordon’s vehicle’s left rear to collide with the Trooper’s right front. Gordon was found to be unrestrained, inebriated, and driving with a suspended driver’s license during the crash assessment. Dexter Reed, a 24-year-old passenger in Gordon’s vehicle, had an active warrant in Baton Rouge for theft and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Two 9mm Glock pistols were also discovered, one of which had been modified to a fully automatic firearm.
There were no injuries recorded as a result of the collision.
Gordon was arrested as an outcome of the investigation for Driving While Impaired, Driving with a Suspended License, No Seatbelt, and other traffic violations. Reed was arrested for two charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, no seatbelt, and an outstanding warrant. Gordon and Reed were taken to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center and booked.
