Sulphur, LA – Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on March 9, 2022, that on October 28, 2021, around 11:30 a.m., CPSO deputies were dispatched near the intersection of Johnny Jones Road and Arthur Vincent Road in Sulphur in reference to a two vehicle accident.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a truck was traveling southbound on Johnny Jones Road and a car was traveling northbound. The vehicles collided head-on for reasons unknown at the time of the initial investigation, and the passenger in the car, Hunter W. Quarles, 20, Sulphur, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Evidence gathered at the scene, as well as witness statements, revealed that the drivers of the car, Mason C. Young, 20, and the truck, Drake A. Mason and Drake were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on March 7, 2022, and charged with negligent homicide. Later that day, they were released on $40,000 bond each, set by Judge Tony Fazzio.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Lt. Bryan Guth and Sgt. Bryan Alexander are the lead investigators on this case.
