3 Arrested 1 Wanted for Burglary and Theft in Moss Bluff

3 from Lake Charles have been arrested and 1 is still wanted in connection with two burglary and theft cases in Moss Bluff.

On October 5, 2021, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that they arrested another suspect allegedly involved in a September 17, 2021, burglary and theft case in Moss Bluff.

After further investigation, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives learned Sheena M. Garvin, 36, of Lake Charles, LA was also involved in one of the residential burglaries. It was discovered Garvin allegedly contacted one of the victims under false pretenses, pretending to be interested in purchasing tickets for a fundraiser the victim was organizing. Garvin then allegedly asked the victim to meet her at a location, away from the residence, to purchase the tickets, in order to lure the victim away from the home to facilitate the burglary and theft. When the victim arrived at the location Garvin never showed up and stopped communicating with the victim.

On October 1, 2021, Garvin was interviewed by detectives and arrested, and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center charged with simple burglary; criminal damage to property; and theft of less than $1,000. Judge Kendrick Guidry set her bond at $7,000.

Lake Charles, LA – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that on September 17, 2021, deputies were dispatched to two homes, on Reeves Road and Marilyn Road, in Moss Bluff in reference to a burglary that occurred at the residences. Upon arrival one of the victims advised deputies that 5 firearms were stolen from inside the home.

CPSO detectives reportedly learned that Damien L. Hilliard, 37, Micah B. Ortego, 41, and Carlin J. Richard, Jr., 39, all of Lake Charles, were allegedly responsible for the burglary and thefts. CPSO detectives made contact with Ortego and Richard between September 21 and 22, 2021. Detectives said that when they spoke with Ortego and Richard, they confirmed they were responsible for the burglary and thefts. Detectives executed a search warrant on Ortego’s residence and located a large amount of methamphetamine.

Ortego and Richard were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

On September 27, 2021, after further investigation, detectives issued a warrant signed by Judge Kendrick Guidry for Hilliard’s arrest in the amount of $62,000.

All three suspects are charged with 2 counts of simple burglary; 5 counts of theft of a firearm; 2 counts of theft less than $1,000; and 2 counts of criminal damage to property. Ortego is additionally charged with possession of CDS II with intent to distribute. Hilliard and Richard are additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Judge Clayton Davis set Ortego’s bond at $28,500 and Richard’s bond at $23,500. Ortego and Richard also have a detainer from Probation & Parole.

Detectives have recovered two of the stolen firearms.
