16-Year-Old Student in Louisiana Arrested For Allegedly Cyberbullying Another Student in Social Media Message

Caddo Parish, Louisiana – A 16-year-old student in Louisiana has been arrested for allegedly cyberbullying another student in a social media message.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office said on April 24, 2023, that investigators had arrested a Byrd High School student for cyberbullying.

According to law enforcement sources, on March 31, detectives launched an investigation into an incident involving a 15-year-old victim who received a social media message that said, “to kill yourself.” Detectives were able to discover the suspect’s identity and residence after obtaining two search warrants.

Authorities indicated that the suspect agreed to meet at the high school after contacting the suspect’s father. After being read their Miranda rights, the 16-year-old student reportedly admitted to creating the social media account and sending the message.
