14-Year-Old Juvenile Suspect in Louisiana Arrested After Allegedly Stealing Money and Pointing a Gun at Victims
St John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana – A 14-year-old juvenile suspect in Louisiana has been arrested after allegedly stealing money and pointing a gun at victims.
On April 20, 2023, St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that a 14-year-old male juvenile from LaPlace, Louisiana was arrested Wednesday, April 19 after allegedly taking money from another juvenile at a local business and then pointing a gun at the juvenile and his parents.
Officers responded to a business in the 1400 Block of West Airline Highway in LaPlace in regard to an armed robbery on Friday, April 14, 2023, at about 8:30 p.m. Officers made contact with the 13-year-old male victim and his parents upon their arrival, who claimed that another male juvenile, later identified as the 14-year-old male, took money from the victim’s hand inside the store and then departed.
Following that, the victim alerted his parents to the suspect, who was still in the vicinity of the store. The parents approached the male subject and insisted that he return the money. The adolescent suspect reportedly refused to return the money and departed on a bike. When he departed the area, the suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim and his parents.
Officers identified the 14-year-old as the suspect based on the investigation and video surveillance and revealed the firearm used in the incident was a BB gun that resembled a handgun.
The adolescent suspect was apprehended and reportedly admitted to the robbery and assault with a firearm.
The adolescent was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm (felony) and simple robbery. He was released to a parent.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
