13-Year-Old Student in Louisiana Arrested After Allegedly Bringing Stolen Firearm to School
St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana – A thirteen-year-old student in Louisiana was arrested after allegedly bringing a stolen firearm to school.
On May 5, 2023, the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that it has arrested a male juvenile for allegedly having a firearm in his possession while on a school campus.
A 13-year-old male eighth-grade student at a St. Bernard Parish public middle school was charged Friday, May 5 at the St. Bernard Parish Juvenile Detention Center with carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon on school property, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, and terrorizing, according to authorities.
Sheriff Pohlmann said deputies responded to a report from school administration shortly before 11 a.m. about a student at the school who was found to be in possession of a weapon while on campus.
Throughout the course of the inquiry, Special Investigations Division deputies discovered that the male student took the firearm to school in his backpack.
Sheriff Pohlmann stated that no one was injured in the incident and that deputies recovered the firearm, a .9mm Taurus handgun that had been reported stolen in St. Bernard.
St. Bernard Parish Sheriff James Pohlmann indicated that the investigation is still underway.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
