12 Students Arrested in Louisiana After Two Gang-Related Fights at a High School

Shreveport, Louisiana – The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on August 30, 2022, that deputies arrested 12 students after two gang-related fights broke out at Southwood High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, Tuesday afternoon.

The first altercation broke out near the school’s breezeway around 12:58 p.m., according to officials. In that fight, the school resource officer detained eight boys. Seven additional deputies were dispatched to the area, and approximately an hour later, another fight erupted. As a result of the second incident, four females were detained and an innocent bystander was sent to the hospital.

Twelve of the juveniles were charged with disturbing the peace by fighting, and one was charged with battery. Everyone was returned to their guardians.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
