1 Lake Charles Man Arrested and Another Wanted in Connection with July Vehicle Burglaries

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested 1 and are searching for another in connection with multiple vehicle burglaries that happened in July 2021.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Crimes Investigation Unit (VCIU) detectives said that on July 28, 2021, they responded to several complaints of vehicle burglaries in the area of West Gauthier Road in Lake Charles. While investigating detectives reviewed video surveillance from the homes where the burglaries occurred. In the video surveillance, the suspect’s vehicle was observed to be a black Dodge Challenger.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office VCIU detectives were later dispatched to multiple vehicle burglaries in the Vinton area on July 30, 2021, and learned the same Dodge Challenger had been in the area where the burglaries occurred. CPSO Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) was also advised Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office was working multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred on July 27, 2021, involving a black Dodge Challenger.

The owner of the car was later identified as Darien D. Trahan, 19, of Lake Charles with the assistance of the Calcasieu Parish Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) detectives. With this information, detectives issued a warrant signed by Judge Tony Fazzio for the arrest of Trahan. On July 31, 2021, Trahan was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 14 counts of simple burglary; theft of a firearm; and 4 counts of theft less than $1,000. Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $113,000.

As Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Crimes Investigation Unit (VCIU) detectives continued to investigate, they found another suspect, Taveon E. Williams, 19, of Lake Charles, was also responsible for the vehicle burglaries in Calcasieu Parish.

On August 13, 2021, CPSO detectives issued a warrant for the arrest of Williams in the amount of $88,000 signed by Judge Tony Fazzio. Williams was also charged with 14 counts of simple burglary; theft of a firearm; and 4 counts of theft less than $1,000.
